                             Made from hazel rods with 3" woven willow binding.
                               
Willow Binding
 
Willow binding has had bark removed and treated with linseed oil and yacht varnish. This gives a nice golden colour which sets off the brown bark of the hazel rods.
 
Where not shielded form sunlight by plant leaves, binding may become "bleached". The colour can be retored, and the wood preserved, by annual applications of linseed oil.
 
Hazel Rods
 
The rods are sharpened to allow them to be pushed into soft earth. Any ordinary fence-paint can be applied to the trimmed surfaces to minimise rotting where in contact with the soil.
