                        wingspan:  4.2 - 5.4 cm;
                                male/     :  dark brown with eye-like
                                                 marking on each fore-wing
                                female   :  as male but with more orange
                                                     
                                larval
                                foodplant: fine grasses, bents, fescues 
 
                                        
    
 
       
I don't see as many of these as I would have expected. These are the first two this year.
This species seems to have been badly affected by the poor summer.
