Pine Ladybird (Exochomus 4-pustulatus)
fact file
This small ladybird is supposed to be found on Pines, Willow or Sallow(Goat Willow).
However the only two that I have ever seen have both been on Oak trees. Perhaps they were just confused.

Water Ladybird (Anisosticta 19-punctata)
fact file
Having counted 18 spots on this ladybird, I thought that it might be called the "18-spot Ladybird". But apparently not. It is supposed to inhabit reed beds and wetlands Perhaps the wet summer has attracted it: because I found it in the swampiest part of the site. .

7-Spot Ladybird (Coccinella 7-punctata)
fact file
This is one of the rare occassions where I have encountered this species other than on Hazel.
In the autumn, when picking hazelnuts, I find dozens of them hiding inside the green outer "husks".
In the winter, when coppicing, I have to be careful to check around the base of each hazel and move any snoozing specimens out of harm's way.
In the early years I would often find them lurking inside tree-shelters.
