                                              Basketry Willow  

 

Buff willow suitable for basketry or as binding for garden obelisks, etc. The rods have been boiled and the bark removed. The rods are a golden brown colour. They need only be soaked for 24 hours prior to use and, unlike willow with retained bark, they can be re-soaked. After drying they can be treated with linseed oil or varnish: this will enhance the colour and act as a preservative.
